Anton Ray
Anton Ray is a poly-ethnic (Cherokee, Lakota, and French) writer who works most often in the one-hour drama space, with a special fondness for Sci-Fi/Urban-Fantasy that explores complicated “point of view” driven moralities and ethical gray areas arising from high stakes situations.
Anton grew up in Eugene, Oregon, sometimes above, but more often below the poverty line. Anton’s writing began by scribbling ideas into note-books while roasting alive in guard-towers in 2003 while deployed overseas in Kuwait, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia during the opening year of the Iraq War. During his eight years as an Army infantryman, he served as a RTO (radio operator), squad leader, and battalion instructor, teaching everything from safe care and handling of civilians and media on the battlefield to combat communications. After returning from war, he ended his military career when circumstances forced him to confront his new reality as a disabled soldier. In doing so, he was able to finally turn his full attention to his true passion in life, the arts.
Anton went on to earn his BFA in acting at CalArts and MFA in directing from East 15th in London. While at CalArts, he met his long-time collaborator and writing partner Paul Masterson with whom he created a production company, Warrior Poet. To date, they have made over thirty pieces of Film and Theater together. Anton has written, directed and produced pieces of theater and film in New York, Los Angeles, Eugene, and London. Anton recently completed the WGA Veterans Writing Project, and is currently seeking representation.
